Green IT – Cloud Computing for Small / Mid-sized Companies provides the way

Is there a good way for small and mid-sized companies to really go Green with IT?  Buying and running your own servers isn’t the way.  They each take up electricity and yet run at a really low utilization, both for CPU and disk.  They take up too much power, there are too many of them, and they are not utilized at a high rate at all.

Issue two: Local PCs and Macs take too much power and have too large of an equipment footprint.  They’re expensive and are very under utilized.  Now, you own them, so tossing them out isn’t a good solution either.  Maybe delaying replacing them and replacing them with a Thin Client Terminal (low power, small footprint, last almost forever) would be best.

So how does this relate to Cloud Computing and IVDesk?  The fact is that within IVDesk we maximize computer server utilization and have created an environment that allows many many companies to share centralized computer resources.  We are a HUGE user of Virtualization so that we can maximize CPU, Disk, and Network utilization while closely managing power usage.

We provide IVDesk Virtual sessions so that each customer user gets a full working Windows XP session running all their applications with all their data and can access it via almost any PC/Mac/WinTerm available.  Clients keep using their old equipment for years longer and when they do change, they can use Windows Terminals (new or refurbished) and get the same wonderful IVDesk experience with a lower cost and Greener solution.

So, besides saving capital, providing great customer service, running all your applications, hosting all your data, and letting you get to your IVDesk desktop from any Internet connection everywhere, it’s a fantastic Green solution that really provides for Small to Mid-sized companies.  Yes, you can go Green IT even if you’re small.

I deleted my file, now what? – Cloud Computing to the Rescue

In supporting customers within the IVDesk environment we offer a number of tools that make everyone’s life easier.  Some relate to utilities, ease of use, support, and one that consistently helps “save the day” is that we use Microsoft’s Shadow Copy.

Just the other day an accountant from one of our customers called saying they accendently over wrote an Excel file that they’ve been working on for the last few hours.  Was there any way they could get back the last version and save the rework?

The answer was “Yes, of course”.  Within IVDesk we use Microsoft’s solution providing copies of fles as they change throughout the day.  An IVDesk user can quickly recover previous versions with little or no assistance from the helpdesk.  Another problem solved.

Cloud Computing has provided great solutions for smaller companies.  By utilizing an outside service like IVDesk, small to mid-sized companies get access to a Fortune 500 IT backend for a low monthly fee.  They get all the great services and systems without the dramatic costs.

It’s a good time to call IVDesk. 800-711-1438

Cloud Computing for the Rest of Us

What if you run standard Windows applications for your business, you know, accounting packages, law applications, manufacturing, order entry, the basics?  Can you take advantage of the “Cloud” and reduce your capital outlays and Green up?  You’ve got a number of servers of all ages and different people telling you how to spend your money and what choices to make.  What’s your next step to make this thing we call “IT” work?

My suggestion…  Move the whole thing to the cloud with IVDesk.  Look at the options and benefits that everyone’s touting and see if they fit for you:
1. Low cost of entry and no new capital expenses
2. The Pay for Use model, you grow or shrink and so do your direct costs
3. Someone else to take over your IT headaches while you get back to your business
4. Your staff and company can actually work from anywhere there’s an Internet connection
5. We run all your current applications! Yup, you already own the licenses, we provide the Microsoft Office licenses, and no more capital outlay.

So how can this really work?  We provide a completely hosted and managed solution from running all your applications in our Fortune 500 environment to giving 24×7 support to each person in your company.  No more call he boss or internal IT guy, just call the Helpdesk.  We’re always there ready to help.  No long hold queues, a live person!

Take a look at IVDesk at www.IVDesk.com and search for IVDesk on YouTube to see a few of our customers talking about us.  Great successes from each company, each time.  Not perfect, but a great solution with comitted customer service.

Moving Your Company to Cloud Computing

Situation: You’ve been running your business for years and have a number of different computer servers running different applications.  Some are old, most are in the mid-point of their life.  You have support, either locally or through an “outsourced” resource but the service isn’t that good.  You call them and they “get to it” when they can.  All your users struggle with general IT issues and you’d really like to be able to get back to focusing on your business…

Option 1: Let’s try a different support resource.  – So, you look for a new employee or a new outsourced service to come in, audit everything, recommend changes and upgrades, and thousands and thousands of dollars later, things are somewhat better but the issues continue, service is poor and the check is just going to someone else.  You spent tons of your capital and not sure what you got.

Option 2: Move to the Cloud. – Look at a solution like IVDesk.  We’ll run all your applications on our servers providing you a virtual Windows desktop that looks like your local PC but runs everything faster with better support and service.  We install all your applications, move your files, folders, and data, Pilot the environment with you and then cut  you over to the new way of life.

Why is Option 2 the Answer? – With IVDesk, all your applications run on state-of-the-art servers and disk with virus protections, backups, unlimited space, unlimited helpdesk support, all for a small monthly fee per user.  No huge start-up costs, all your Microsoft licensing is included, and we run and manage your applications.  Your staff calls us directly and we help each person right away.  They no longer come in your office to say something’s broken.  They just call and it’s taken care of.

What’s the switch like? – Moving to IVDesk is a very smooth process.  We have a very detailed process that we go through to make sure that your applications and environment are running well before we cut-over.  We work with you on timing and testing so that day one in IVDesk is as smooth as possible.  We don’t go live until the Pilot runs like it should.  We train your staff (about 30 minutes) and support them during the change.

Benefits? Why make the change? – By moving to IVDesk your staff gets taken care of with kid gloves.  Your applications run faster then they ever have and all your staff can work from anywhere there’s an Internet connection, anywhere in the world.  Have an issue, call 24×7 and get a real person who can help.  No more server costs or Microsoft Office license costs, they’re included and paid for monthly by us.  Just think, low managable costs, great service, fast applications, work from everywhere.  It’s a great way to go!

So, when it’s time to make a change, to spend another $10,000 – $40,000 on IT servers, to look for a new IT resource since the current one’s not working out, take a look at IVDesk and move to Cloud Computing today.  All your applications run in the Cloud, fast, access from anywhere, help at your finger tips.
